I felt compelled to write because this product has gotten such poor reviews. My beloved mouse passed away and I was looking to make a mosaic stone to place over his grave. Due to this products' poor reviews, I decided against this one, but this was all my local Michael's had in stock. I bought this kit and I am glad I did. I am not very crafty and rarely do projects, but this one turned out well.
Cons: The kit did have poor instructions. It says to add 3 cups of water. This would make the mix very watery. I used 2.5 cups and it turned out well. I do understand why the instructions ask the user to use 3 cups: with 2.5 I had to scoop the cement out of the bucket and the surface of my cement in the mold wasn't smooth. The cement does settle which causes the top of the mold to fill with water. I placed a paper towel on top of my mold every once in a while to soak up the excess. I don't know if this is avoidable.
Pros: Contrary to other peoples' experiences I had a large variety of shapes and colors of glass. I have attached a picture of my stone and you can see there are plenty of blues, greens, reds, yellows, and some whites, browns, and blacks. I even had some smaller left-over pieces.
You can see a picture of my stone. There is an "M" for Mousey in Red. There are 2 hands in yellow. There is a brown, white, and black heart in he middle. Everything is surrounded by a mixture of colors, mostly green and blue.
Pros: QualityGood valueEasy to usePerformed well

Like everyone else indicated, 3 cups of water all at once was way tooooo much ! And I, too, found that the size of the sea glass pieces for the most part was too small and lacking enough variety to make it as colorful as the picture on the box. Only one yellow piece and just two small red pieces. I had to keep using a cloth to try to pull some of the water away so that I could place my "stones" before midnight when I made this around 4pm. Overnight a good deal of the pieces must have sank to the bottom, and there was a huge pool of water on top in the morning.
I know what to do with the rest of my kits now...start off with 2 cups of water, make sure its like a thick brownie batter and supplement with small tile/stones/shells on clearance. With that in mind, these could be pretty. I dont remember these kinds of necessary alterations years ago when I first made some. Quality goes down, price goes up. Sad.

The variety of mosaic tile pieces is poor. Many in our kit were really too small to use (half the size of a dime). There wasn't much colour variation either. I'm not sure I could cover the whole surface with the tiles I got.
Instructions are obviously wrong. I used the amount of water stated and have a mold full of very thin slime. I doubt it will even set up, let alone be strong enough to hold any tiles.
Nice idea, poor product.

Instructions are provided in order that you may accomplish the desired results. HOWEVER, the instructions included instructs to add 3 cups of water which is way too much! Now, we are having to wait for hours. Hopefully, my kids will still be available for me to be able to do their hand prints. I have three kits that I hope I will be able to use! I recommend you buy something different.
Cons: Difficult to use

I was so disappointed in this project. The directions said to add 3 cups of water all at once which is way too much water and by the time it was dry enough to decorate, my daughter was already in bed for the night, 4 hours later. I guess if you do buy and use it, add the water slowly, not all at once as the directions state.

My daughter was heartbroken when she opened the Mosaic Flower Stepping Stone Kit to find that the colored glass included was blue, green, white, and brown. The picture on the front showed blue, red, pink, and yellow glass pieces. The included colors don't even make sense for a flower! Who ever heard of a flower with green petals? Or brown, unless it's dead! Huge disappointment!
